David was raised on a farm and stocker operation outside of Hereford, Texas. He continued to farm while in high school, allowing him to earn the American Farmer degree from Future Farmers of America. His education continued at Texas Tech University earning him a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics in 1978.
In 1979 he began a career as a commodity broker. Upon completion of training in Denver, CO, he moved to Amarillo joining the newly established firm, Amarillo Brokerage. He became a partner of the firm in 1983, and in 1999 he assumed the position of the Managing Partner. He held that title until his retirement in 2015.
During his tenure at Amarillo Brokerage, he shared in the transformation of this small company into one of the top commercial cattle hedging offices in the United States. Clients were located throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
His 36 years of experience working with bankers, feed yards, and customers have provided him with a unique skill set that can easily be applied to the marketing of Commercial Agricultural Facilities.
